Pastry Chef

Location:148 Tuckton Road, Bournemouth BH6 3JX
 
Pay: Up to £30,000.00 per year

Job Description:

BigWigs Bakery is looking for a Experienced Pastry Chef to join our fun and fast paced kitchen team at our Tuckton site!

The role of the Senior Pastry Chef is to support the Head Pastry Chef in supervising and training the junior team members. Overseeing all aspects of the pastry section in relation to production, health & safety and innovation.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Baking and decorating all products on the menu to a high standard
  • Utilising communication with FOH for customer feedback on seasonal products
  • Assisting with customer and wholesale product enquiries
  • Assisting the Head Pastry Chef in creating new products through an excellent understanding of the business identity, customer and latest trends
  • Creating and allocating the daily task list across the team and monitoring progress
  • Ensuring junior team members complete their cleaning checklists
  • Ensuring all daily checklists are completed, solving any issues so they do not carry into the next shift
  • Ensuring the quality and presentation of all products meets our high standards
  • Maintaining stock levels & stock rotation
  • Ordering of supplies and looking for new ingredients to try
  • Overseeing and allocating the daily & monthly cleaning schedule
  • Overseeing attendance and productivity of Junior & Pastry Chefs, giving feedback where needed when the Head Pastry Chef is off or on holiday
  • Assisting with HACCP food safety systems
  • Adhere to all food allergens and health & safety regulations in the kitchen
  • Reports to the Head Pastry Chef

This is a full-time role including weekend and weekday shifts

The role is for our Tuckton site only. Own transportation or walkable/bike distance is required.

Front of House Supervisor

Pay: Up to £14.00 per hour

Job Description:

The Front of House Supervisor supports the day-to-day running of the bakery, ensuring high standards across operations, team performance, and customer experience. This is a hands-on role requiring strong organisation, a positive attitude, and the ability to support and guide the team effectively.

Note: Experience in a catering setting is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Support: Lead by example for the staff on shift, setting a positive example in attitude, work ethic and customer service. Support your manager in motivating the team and making it a fun and productive environment. Taking delegated responsibility in sharing out the workload and ensuring staff have appropriate breaks.
  • Bakery Standards: Support in maintaining high quality presentation of the product. Take responsibility for displaying stock and cleanliness. Escalate concerns about the quality of products to the Bakery Manager.
  • Customer Experience: Deliver excellent customer service at all times, motivating the team to do the same. Take a lead on upselling and support FOH to do the same. Handle customer queries in a positive manner and escalate to the Bakery Manager where needed.
  • Training & Development: Support the training and onboarding of new team members, helping them build confidence and consistency in their roles. Lead by example and provide guidance during shifts.
  • Performance Support: Provide informal, on-the-spot feedback to team members to support performance and maintain standards. Escalate any concerns to the Bakery Manager.
  • Communication: Ensure clear and effective communication during shifts, including handovers between team members. Maintain clear communication to the Tuckton Bakery in ordering requirements and to answer customer queries.
  • Attendance & Shift Cover: Support the Bakery Manager in managing daily staffing levels by helping to cover shifts where possible and communicating any absence or lateness promptly.
  • Cleanliness & Compliance: Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety during your shift. Complete required daily checks and ensure compliance with Safety Culture, allergen processes, and cleaning schedules.
  • Health & Safety: Follow all health and safety procedures and ensure safe working practices are maintained at all times.
  • Stock Support: Assist with stock control, including restocking, rotation, and maintaining clean and organised storage areas. Highlight low stock or issues to the Bakery Manager.
  • Waste Control: Support waste reduction by following correct portioning, rotation, and storage processes.
  • Shift Running: Take responsibility for running smooth and efficient shifts in the absence of the Bakery Manager, ensuring the team is organised, supported, and delivering to a high standard.
  • Problem Solving: Handle day-to-day issues calmly and effectively, escalating more complex problems to the Bakery Manager when needed.

Person Specification

For this role, you will be a key support to the Bakery Manager and a role model for the team on shift. You will help create a positive working environment and ensure standards are upheld consistently.

  • Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed
